Is now a good time to buy a home or should I wait until 2020? I heard this question several times this week from local area residents who are renting and potentially thinking of buying in the near future. I will try to give an unbiased answer to the question.

On August 27th 2019, the Federal government announced a new Energy Savings Rebate Program of up to $200 million. The program is geared towards helping Canadian home owners reduce carbon emissions and save money.
Shoppers will be able to receive up to 25% off eligible energy saving products. Specifically buyers can save $500 on the following products:
The average selling price was $806,755 in July 2019 and that is up 3.2% over July 2018. Sales in July 2019 were up 24.3% at 8595 from 6916 in July 2018. Buyers would like to have more choice right now because the supply level is tight. Since average prices are going up and the supply side is tight then it seems like an ideal time for Sellers to get in the market.
